Have you ever asked yourself this question, "WHO AM I"?
Have you ever fathomed about how you came to be, why you do things the way you do, why you believe in what you believe, why you make certain decisions and all that surrounds your life? There are so many questions that seem to be there in life more that the answers the world can ever give. Theories developed by philosophers, scholars, scientists and the like all struggle to forge answers but in their critiques you find no common ground to the happenings in regard to humanity.
So who are you?
Lets look at the answers one could give when asked such a question, one would say, I am.......(name & sex), daughter/ son of.....(family), I come from ....(country/ continent), I am .......(tribe/ language), I am a ......(religion), I am a ......(profession), name it! In analysis the first way one will always declare identity is by name. However here comes the question Is your Name Who you are? Does it tell others who you are? Okay let’s pick on family, profession, nationality, tribe.....would someone really use these things to pick you out of a crowd? One can say yes; for example by name, but when we look at this factor, it not true that names are only given? We have also seen that they can change but this does not change who you are! Several people can be called Juliet Luutu yet all are very different from one another. so the question remains Juliet Luutu, who are you? Let’s pick on religion. I can say I am a Christian, when one looks for such am there, but how one will identify that is that particular Christian they are looking for. So besides being a Christian, who are you? Take a pick on tribe. For instance am a Muganda, but we are still so many one cannot simply identify me with this. The trend is the same with profession, race, colour, sex, age name it.
We have known that what culture, tradition, socialization, environment among others have defined us to be may not really be who we are. The question comes again, "Who are u?”
It is paramount to note that most of the traits that have guided the above sentiments like name, tribe, religion, nationality are first known to us through our parents / gurdians. I am Juliet because my parents called me so, a Ugandan because they told me I was born in Uganda, (ceteris paribus). In discovering who we are, we need to go back to our routes. True people have different beliefs especially in regard to creation, origin and ancestry, but this does not change the fact and truth that our being streams from God the almighty. The sole creator of heaven and earth! What did he call you when he made you? What did he give you as he made you? What did he say about you as he created you? The journey to self discovery is long, its time that all humanity got to search their identity in the Lord. He created us in his image and therefore calls us his children, and that is what we are! Did you know that Jesus Christ the Son of God and you the daughter of God are brother and sister even though he is King? This may not be comprehensive to identify who you are, but triggers you mind to embark on the journey to self discovery! Your composition, your personality and inner identity.....begin the search not elsewhere but in the word of the living God-the Holy Bible.
